Sound Quality:
Very good audience.
Comments:
The quality isn't quite that of the first Paradise Theater show of this tour (March 6, 1981, TWO SIDES LIVE), but it's a pretty good audience recording. The industry seems to have left Italy physically (this disc was manufactured in Taiwan, not Italy or Luxembourg). The insert is blank, but the covers are all correct for the time period. The sound quality gives a good feel of what it must have been like to hear U2 in the audience, something that soundboard recordings sometimes don't give. As you may know, it wasn't unusual for a European band to play true encores, as U2 did for "I Will Follow", "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" and "The Ocean". I think Carter Alan mentions this in his book. Alan also mentions that it wasn't until later that he found out that U2 had older songs they could have played (from the demo period), but that they wanted to concentrate on the new, better material. Anyway, as someone said when another show came about on disc for the first time 13 years later, it is very unusual to have a show of this quality come out on CD 15 years later.
