“My feeling is, that it is cool f or the people to share ourmusic - as long as no one is making money from the process. We tell the people who come to our concerts that they can tape the show if they want. I think, it is cool that people are so passionate about our music.”

Comments: First perfomance of Van Diemen's Land & Dirty Old Town

Yet another St. Patrick's Day in the US - this time in the heart of Irish America, Boston where 20% of the inhabitants are of Irish decent. Local radio station WZLX announces a contest to give 25 pairs of tickets away to the people wearing the most original costumes or carrying the most original banners. Almost 8.000 people show up at the radio station, and the WZLX staff are forced,to quietly walk up to people in the crowd and hand them tickets. City officials are stunned when rush-hour traffic is nearly brought to a halt and police from all over the metropolitan area are forced to perform crowd control.
Even manager Paul McGuinness has trouble convincing local police he needs to get through, but eventually succeeds.
Even though U2 use their usual trick of releasing premium seats on the day of the show, scalpers are charging $200-$1000 for seats.
Adam and Larry are seen throughout the city, and in one pub stop to play with a band playing U2 cover tunes. The crowd at the venue are charged before the show starts. A pipe band walks around the venue, the balconies are covered in banners, and the majority of people are wearing green. The crowd is deafening as the intro I Could Have Lost You is played and Bono rises up on his elevator. Zoo Sation kick off in full throttle as Bono says ”I’m ready for St. Patrick!”
After The Fly, Bono addresses the crowd, "I've never been in Boston on St. Patrick's Day...Now I know why!...you bastards are louder than the band!" During Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around The World, Bono sings, "I dreamed I saw St. Patrick, played and scored a hat trick, and Larry Bird was throwing his arms around the world..."
Though one time Larry attempted, the song didn’t include the ’bridge section’.
Christina Petro, the belly-dancer who made her debut in Miami rejoins the show. Angel of Harlem is dedicated to Billie Holiday, and Larry sings a verse of the song. "One more from Larry Mullen, ladies and gentlemen...tonight for the first time ever!" Bono applauds after the song. Larry also sings Dirty Old Town with The Edge and Bono accompanying on guitar.
Edge performs Van Diemen's Land for the first time on the Zoo TV tour (Second time in San Diego, 1992 april 15).
Certainly he's in a really great mood. Bullet The Blue Sky is pretty interesting. The song blasts from a gigantic solo which created the atmosphere though, the performance is still immature to late zoo shows. Now dominated with experimentings, finding the right way. At some point Edge plays the usual stuff but sooner, Clayton’s bass lines after the last break, all them are not made completely yet but came out pretty interesting. Love Is Blindness becomes more intensive and raw than ever.
The eleventh show in the row is well recieved, and is by far, one of the best live performances the band have given on this tour.
Support is B.P. Fallon and The Pixies.
