| U2 RTE studios Febuary 1987 01) Springhill Mining Disaster 02) Interview This is from a tribute show to the Dubliners, prior to the Joshua Tree tour. U2 played a storming version of this Peggy Seeger song. At one point Bonos voice drops out. It sounds very emotional but is actually a problem with the microphone. This was recorded onto a BASF video tape, direct during broadcast. Because of the tape´s age (it was presumed missing in action for nearly 15 years) there has been a loss of sound quality. I still believe that this version, with a known source, sounds better than the other versions I have come across over the last 3 years. Hiss was removed using sonic foundry noise reduction. EQ was adjusted in the interview to remove an annoying bass rumble This is available in 2 versions 1) Original mono as WAV (recommended) 2) Artificially generated stereo (multi.tap delay and stereo widening added) |
